Halloween is Coming
Alright so Towards the End of October We have the Halloween event for few days?(Or week cant remember exactly but either way it still near end of october).
So I'm sure that Many are going to be Collecting Items Like charr Carvings, Grawl necklaces to Trade into for Consumables. Trick or Treat Bags drop! Love em! General question- Other then farming Veattirs like a Normally do for Event items-I Think last year there was a Repeatable Quest that Yielded a Nice amount of ToT's. I remember the quest being rather Quick and Easy. Could anybody Link me to the Quest from Wiki or tell me what the quest is called if they remembered it? (Searched Guru and Wiki and Had no Luck finding which Quest it was that everybody farms) |

I am also not sure what it was called. I think it was the one you had to encase the skeleton in the UW? And being able to repeat it for massive and to be honest stupid ammount ot ToT bags.
I hope they won't allow this again this year and continue the story with the leech. |

I'm assuming the quest line you're thinking of is "Something Wicked This Way Comes" -> "Don't Fear the Reapers" -> "Stemming the Skeletal Tide" -> "Every Bit Helps" -> "The Waiting Game," where you run around in the Underworld. "Every Bit Helps" is the repeatable part, where you go down with skeleton-catchers and turn in captured skeletons for XP and ToT bags. Good for progressing consumable titles as well as a pretty damn safe way to get Survivor, since you can catch skeletons on one character and turn them in on another.
We also had some new Halloween quests introduced last year, unique lines each in Lion's Arch and Kamadan, but as far as I know neither had repeatable parts (though there was somewhat of a cliffhanger that we're expecting to be be continued this year). lol, me and my girlfriend picked up a stack of those crystals each last year, and we've been farming uw chamber with rits, capping the 4 skeles and getting ectos as bonus ever since. She has 340 capped skeles and I have 246.
If I remember right we did so as handing in the quest netted 1,000g and some other stuff, if it's XP I might finally get the survivor title too while I'm at it. |

Hmm, not to go to off topic but since you can turn them in on dif chars on your account are the captured skeletons tradeable? Would be interesting to see if one could buy 402 of them to max survivor.

I only really need the ToTs so in can get all the cookies for sweet tooth title-Everything else i'll probably sell or trade for sweets. The stones that Capture the Skeles i'll probably keep for whenever i decide to get UW HM with Henchies going-Should make life easier |

At the end of the event, we also get a visit from our "spirit of Halloween," Mad King Thorn, who hands out a limited-edition mask for that year. Make sure you're there for the finale, once each in Kamadan and Lion's Arch, so you can get each unique mask. If you fail to get a mask at the event, you will never be able to get that mask type in future. (And remember to show your mask to a Festival Hat Maker NPC!) All of this should be detailed on the wiki. Last edited by Star_Jewel; Oct 14, 2011 at 08:33 PM // 20:33.. Reason: Bad grammar is bad |

Create a second character and do things in advance? Halloween is a great way to earn some easy cash, take advantage of it!

Seriously, do what Kendil suggests. Starting in Nightfall might be quickest -- you'll have immediate access to Kamadan, and getting a ferry to LA would be pretty easy.
I was very new when my first Canthan New Year came around, had no idea about anything. I missed the chance to earn my celestial ox mini pet myself and I always regretted it. You may not be able to do all the quests, but you can be any level to do the candy person quests "Something Wicked This Way Comes" & "Don't Fear the Reapers" if they bring those back -- IIRC, you don't have to be ascended to get in for those. Regardless, you can still stand around and see the Mad King at the finale and get the masks. |

The level of your assassin won't really matter much for a few of the quests and the finale; what really matters is how far along you are in Factions. You'll have to get yourself to the mainland (Kaineng Center) and do the quests to get to LA and Kamadan -- there aren't any Halloween festivities in Cantha. The one to get to Kamadan can be a little rough for a low level character; but if you're not currently working on the Survivor track, it should be doable with the henchmen.
And now that I think about it, having a few levels under your belt will help you make the trek from Lion's Arch to Temple of Ages, from which the quests I mentioned are staged (though I imagine lots of people may be running there for tips as they get themselves there for the event). As a fairly new Ritualist who has only completed Factions and enough of EotN to get Livia, what would be the best way to prepare for the upcoming Halloween event? I'm currently working on the Nightfall campaign, so I do, or will shortly, have many of those locations unlocked. I also did the quest to get to LA, but haven't done anything there yet (except recruit Olias).
Will I be able to farm Vaettirs as a SoS rit? Any other locations I need to make sure I have unlocked? Thanks! |

You'll probably need to unlock a few outposts near LA for convenience (especially ToA) but also places like beetletun. You need to have completed blood washes blood in order to do proper vaettir farming. I'm not really familiar with SoS rit farming, but you'll have to take on many enemies on the same time. The most effective is probably A/Me for Vaettir farming. You should be able to do all the quests and that stuff though. |

The quests they added last year, on the Nightfall side, take you quite deep into the campaign, so those may be out unless you grind through (though it's totally doable if you want to go for that). But you should be able to do a couple of the Prophecies ones (unlocking a few Kryta outposts in advance would help). I think the last one, taking place at the end of Prophecies, might be out for you.
If you're Ascended/Weh No Su, you should also be able to do most of the older quests mentioned above (if they bring them back!), including the repeatable "Every Bit Helps." If you're very new, vaettir farming may not be very effective since that's usually done in Hard Mode (to get the maximum number of vaettirs to spawn), which requires that you have completed Eye of the North once. I heard of somebody mention once that they took a ritualist out to farm foes in "The Captured Son" quest for event items. If you somehow managed to miss doing that quest, that might be a viable alternative for you. If you're looking to farm ToT bags, I think taking your rit down to capture skeletons for "Every Bit Helps" would be the most effective route. The caveat being they might not bring it back, or may nerf the farming potential of the quest. As aspi indicated above, it's a ridiculous reward for such little effort. sorry to half hijack this thread but it links in with things being said -
What are drop rates of ToT's like for at vaettirs? This will be my first year farming them, and if the drop rate is close to that of when birthday cupcakes or chocolate bunnies were dropping .... then after selling gold items i reckon you could get about a stack of ToTs. if the reward for every bit helps is 25 bags, can you really killed 3 skeletons in 6 minutes? =/ or are the drop rates much lower than the other consumables mentioned? |
